Just wondering what the fastest rip speeds out there are...
Here is the fastest that I have seen on my JLMS XJ-HD 166S:
Single Layer: 16.3x (The Three Amigos)
Dual Layer: 8.2x (Several Titles)
I don't know how I got 16.3x since I thought that 16.0x was the cap. Who knows....

8.7X on my Pioneer on dual layer disk
don't know for single layer never watched -
Jimmykicker, I bought this same drive at WM, couldn't believe they were carrying a Liteon Product. For $48.00 at that. It rips fast! I hit 13x at the end with DVD Decrypter.

Are there any settings in DVD Decrypter that will improve the rip speed with my Lite On? I only average about 4-5X for single and dual layer discs.
-
My liteon once hit 16.4 or .5 I can't remember which, but it was only for a second.
-
my artec 16x hit about 11-12X max
also, you guys just using the KB/s rip speed and converting that to whatever X rip speed?
in smartripper, i was tempted to think that 11,000 KB/s was the same as 11X...but that's way off...maybe like 8-9X.... -
I have TEAC DV 516E f3.0 it was ripping up to 12X but since last week it wouldn't go above 2X. Any idea what could be wrong?
Cheers! -
Go into windows device manager, and remove both your hard drive controllers and restart. After the controllers finish reinstalling themselves check your speed again. It usually fixes things up.
-
Tried that. No effect whatsoever. It wouldn't go above 2X.
Any other suggestions?
Cheers! -
16x drives DO go faster than 16x... in spots. They're variable, just like every drive for the past several years. They range from 8-16x, with parts going above 16x... and parts dipping below 8.
The reason you only see 4x or 2x when ripping is that you're reading raw data instead of files.
That rated speed is for pre-cooked data only.

How come the drive was ripping at 4-12X one week ago and now it wouldn't go above 2X /DMA enabled, drivers reinstalled, lens cleaned/.
The only explanation that comes to mind so far is a virus or something.
The retailer doesn't want to replace it because it actually works.
