  1. I saw some members bought the LVD-2001 for $125. Please tell me where can I buy one at that price. I only seen one on ebay but it is $169.

  2. I don't know about $125, but I've seen this at PC Club for $139.

  3. So what exactly is the advantage of mpeg4? Is it easy to make a backup of a DVD converted to mpeg4 then burn to CDR for playback on this player? Will a complete movie even fit onto a single CDR? Sorry for all the silly questions.

That seems like a very good price for a progressive DVD player that also supports mpeg4.

    MPEG4 = DIVX = XVID = an AVI codec.

You can put high-quality AVI's (up to 2 hours' worth on a single CD) onto CD and play them in this player.

Well technically MPEG4 is just a compression format.

But in the context of this DVD player... it plays MPEG4-compressed AVI's.

  8. I'd wait just a little more before buying a DivX DVD player.

Divx and ESS stated that they now have a DivX Certified player that can play the Home Theater Profile. (720x480,30fps, 4mbs ave / 10 mbs rate.)

The players out now are "DivX Compatible"

  10. The LVD-2001 can play the Home Theater profile without any problems.

I did a recent test (to be published) with a DVD rip encoded to DivX 5.05 in the Home Theater profile and it worked flawlessly.

Stats and test results to be published tomorrow July 16th 2003.

    Be patient!

    Thanks.

  11. Does it play VCD/SVCD's? I assume it does, but cannot find info on their site.

  12. Thayne,

Yes it does. For the little info, I mixed an entire DVD-RW with MPEG4, MP3, VCD, SVCD and JPGs files. EVERYTHING played flawlessly. Gotta love this puppy!

One of the best buys that I have done in a LONG time.

  13. Sweet! So you can just burn the mpeg files without making VOB's?

Yes, I cannot find it in other online store and seems that PC Club is sole distributor.

The product is originated from Taiwan but even in HK I cannot find it. I am considering to order one from PC Club.

  19. If you are in hong kong, why are you looking for the lite on. There are no name chinese players that play divx and the quality is equal to or better than the liteon.

  20. What kind of zoom capability does this player have?
I really like the Toshiba zoom, as well as the new Panasonic variable zoom.

    Thanks,

    Hi,

Yes, there are many VCD/DVD players available in HK but I think LVD-2001 is the first one can play divx files.
