When trying to use Nero 6 to burn a DVD, it always returns with Drive is in use by another application. I have been through the process of shutting down any processes / tasks that aren't needed and it always comes back with the above error.

Create an ISO with ImageTool and burn with DVD Decryptor and all works fine.

FYI. XP Pro SP1, PIII 700, 256Mb RAM, 40 + 80Gb on Primary IDE, Liteon DVD-ROM (RPC2 - R4) and the Panasonic (PRC2 - R1, A128 Firmware) on the secondary (tried it set to master and slave). Haven't tried it by itself on the secondary yet. Also, drive worked fine with Nero 5.5....... when it had a Lite-on CD-RW behind it (in a different PC mind you, moving due to changing use for the PC it was in).

    Any ideas.

  3. Nero has never given me any problems with DVD's. I wish people would stop slating Nero like a bad habit. It does NOT cause problems for everyone.

I would hazard a guess you did a full install and InCD is causing problems with it. I have seen this issue on my machine before, and since packet writing is on my list of things to do right after pulling my own finger nails out with pliers, I took it off and the problem went away.

I'll double check that I didn't install InCD, but as I've never installed any type of packet writing software I doubt I would have installed it this time, thanks for the suggestion though garryheather.

Kixer - FYI, I have been using Nero since version 3.....(admittedly I skipped 4 and went straight to 5), and this is the first problem I've had.

  6. Do you have any other burning software installed ? It could be an ASPI conflict, but I'm grabbing at straws now.
