Do a search for a program called DVDInfo, it will tell you that and a whole bunch of other things about your drive and media. Great program and it's freeware.

Your burner program can also give you info under drive properties. (nero and recordnow anyway)

  3. Simple.
Head to your Device manager and open '+CDROM'.......double click the drive in question and then onto settings. The firmware should be listed in the top-right.

  4. Can't find it. "The Edge", the firmware is not listed in the device manager. I only have a properties button and it has the windows drivers but no firmware. I have WinXP pro.

"Alexcue" I can't find this info in my burning programs either; Nero Express and Ulead Movie F2.

I will keep looking and maybe track down this DVDinfo program somewhere.

  5. I found it.

Start Menu - Program files - Accessories - System Tools - System information.

    Then open Components and CD-ROM.

There is nothing that says "firmware" but its within the PNP Device ID brand name and serial numbers.

    My firmware is 1.05.
