  1. Out of all the formats, DVDR / DVD-R / DVD-RW and so on, is there one that so far is more commonly used than the others? as far as dvd players out in the market and in people's homes?

Just wondering, or is it pretty even across the board.

    thanks,
    ress.

  4. Reason why I am asking is because I am getting clients that want vhs to dvd conversion and such, and I don't want to have to ask each one of my clients "Could you check your dvd player for the type of disc it will play???????"

Suggestion: if you want client satisfaction perhaps you should make some sample footage on a dvd-r and a dvd+r. Have prospective clients take home to test (w/ a cash deposit). Tell them to report which works properly or if both work and so on. If they say thats too much hassle u can just give a short (hopefully) explanation of burned dvd's coming in 2 different formats and you want to serve them best as possible.

    just my 2cents.

  6. This is just my opinion, but I believe that DVD-R should probably be more campatible as I believe it was developed first, hence companies will have rushed to make machines compatible with this. Then again nowadays things are developed at such an unbelievable rate the compatability is probably almost the same.

As I said, this is just my OPINION and not complete fact as I don't want to start a format war.

  7. DVD-R has a slight edge over DVD+R

    https://www.videohelp.com/dvd

DVD-R is a non-rewriteable format and it is compatible with about 90% of all DVD Players and most DVD-ROMs.

DVD+R is a non-rewritable format and it is compatible with about 85% of all DVD Players and most DVD-ROMs.

Unfortunately there is no statistics regarding the compatibility of the
DVD+R(W) written as DVD-ROM (compatibility bitsetting)

If we could discuss this matter without negative attitude.........
