  4. I've had an Apex AD600A and a Cyberhome 500. I much prefer the cyberhome than the Apex (mine had some trouble with DVD-R dsics). I got the Apex when it still had the loop menus (I get a lot of PAL and region 2 and region 3 DVDs), the cyberhome has loop menus and plays all my DVD-R discs.

But it depends on what Apex model you're talking about the 1200 is really just a PC DVD-ROM drive with an external case (actually most of the low end players go this route).

  5. i believe there was a sale for a Minitec DVD player (don't think i spelled it correctly) for like $30...suppose to be like the Apex, but better quality....got great reviews.

gotta watch out for the Apex thou....i believe they were sued by Philips (or some other big name company) for VCD playback without paying the ncessary royalties (maybe that's why they can charge so low ???) anywayz, Apex took out VCD support (which includes xVCD, SVCD, xSVCD, CVD, etc..), so some of them may not be able to play your dvd rips.

  7. I think the Apex is an American machine. The Cyberhome is a German one. Never seen an Apex for sale, but I do have the Cyberhome 528 at home. Picture quality is OK, but not brilliant. It cost quite a bit of money (£120) but the newer models are much cheaper (£50-£70). It will play anything you throw at it - even mini-DVD.
