can anyone help please i have just got a sony 510a and cannot get the software nero 5.5, my dvd supplied or record now to accept any thing greater than 2.4
an i doing anythig wrong

depends on your media....even though the media may claim it's rated "4X"...however, ultimately, it's upto the burner to decide the optimal burn speed...in this case, 2.4X max was optimal....
as least for pioneer drives, there are hacked firmware, which i have installed, that allows any media to be burned at the max. however, i personally don't do that and wouldn't advise you to do it either. if the burner chose to burn a DVD disc at a certain max speed, that's prolly optimal..if you try to force it to burn faster, the DVD disc might be screwed later on.
