New suggestion?

Is there any way of flagging new posts that contain words like 'downloaded' etc for moderator attention? Maybe even generate an auto-reply about the rules of this site?

Just a thought - been seeing a lot of posts about downloaded movies recently......

Well, the automatic response would be a bad idea because it assumes that anything and everything you can download, wasn't paid for, or is copyrighted material, and those are not assumptions that you can make. Hey, I downloaded TMPGEnc and used it for 30 days for free, and I do all my VCDs with it.

My email filter has the same problem, and then of course you immediately get stuff like V!@gra, and the 400 variations.

This site already has filters in place. In fact they are filters of the best kind, human filters.
As long as members are dilligent in reporting violations here, things should go smoothly.

I did a search by author looking posts authored by "GINA". The list is short but illuminating. He/She is MAD, has PROBLEMS and needs HELP. In more than one way.

There are a couple of members with grotesque contributions and they seem to go off at times. But then they appear to cool off by themselves.

You know, if everyone that bothers is banned, there is the danger of converting the forum into a ghetto. Perhaps too strong a word, let's say "elite club".

Don't shoot me back for that. What I mean to say is that life and the world is full of different personalities. Some are difficult. Some spice isn't all that bad. But I'm sure that the moderators will do a good job in walking the fine line.

I read one of her last posts and justs from the first line I could tell that that "the cheese slipped off her cracker" (The Green Mile). Did a search for her post and was in tears laughing at her psychotic responses. I've seen alot of people go off but if you read the entire post you could understand why. This chick would just explode if you didn't get it right the first time, asking things like "My DVD player won't play SVCDs" and providing no more info. I think I'm going to save her post for when I'm feeling blue.

If she really has issues, then making fun of her would be no different than making fun of someone in a wheelchair.
It's strange that we are conditioned to feel pity for those with physical handicaps, but have no problem poking fun at people with mental disorders
