  1. Just got back from the matinee... this movie was tight! Fun, entertaining plot and nice special effects. Lots of good action that I've missed in a lot of recent movies. I thought it was a whole lot better than "Pirates of the Caribbean" as well.

    Anybody else see it yet?

Well, I REALLY liked "Pirates". I would say it was one of the best movies released this year. Johnny Depp did a FANTASTIC job with his character.

From the previews, "League" seems to be nothing more than trying to stretch the superhero fad for one more movie. After all, captian Nemo fighting along side Dr. Jeckal and the Invisiable Man? That has corny written all over it. Having Sean Connery in it brings "The Avengers" to mind. Oh, the humanity!

But as you can tell, I have not seen it yet. Maybe I shouldn't judge it so harshly.

Pretty close, though -- it's based on a comic book by Alan Moore.

alenhard -- have you read the comic?

well, it is based on a comic book... don't know how the movie will be, but knowing Alan Moore's other work (he created the comic), I'd bet the comic is pretty good.

I'm still hoping for an adaptation of his comic "V For Vendetta"... apparently the Wachowski brothers have done a script for it, but it's on the back burner at least until after the Matrix trilogy is done....

  6. Nope- haven't read the comic book.

I certainly can't say this movie is going to win any Oscars, but I liked it for what it was. Fun and entertaining, a little suspenseful (nothing too serious), and yes, corny at times.

having all those charactors together kept reminding me in a way of Larry Niven's Ringworld (which would make a hell of a movie - but too long for it ever to be done, unless a 6 part or something) ..
