I have been using Seagate drives exclusively since 1996. Firstly I used the SCSI drives on a Mac before venturing into the world of PCs. I never had a problem of any description until a couple of weeks ago when the 250g I bought last year called it a day. With a 5 year guarantee in hand, I wasn't confident of getting a replacement being resident in Australia. I went to warranty on the Seagate site, filled in the necessary warranty form and immediately was given the address of their Australian agenty and an order number. I posted the drive to Sydney and received a 250g repaired drive 10 days later, not bad service considering the replacement drive came from Singapore.

I guess we are all guilty at one time or another of bagging those companies who fail to deliver the goods, I thought it would be different to acknowledge what I consider to be outstanding after sales service .... obviously, I will continue buying Seagate drives excusively.

I am hoping the trouble with newer Seagate drives is just a temporary anomaly. I have used many different types of harddrives over the years and my Seagates have consistently been the most reliable and longest lasting. I don't know what's happened with the newer models lately, but it is good to know the company is eager to rectify the situation.

I had a 250gb HDD some years ago that needed to be RMAed. I live in Brasil and sent it to the Seagate partner here. Received, a couple of weeks later, a 400gb remanufactured HDD, which is working fine.
I have a couple of WDs 250gb too, which are really hot!
With the firmware bug on the newest Seagate models, I bought a Samsung 1Tb HDD that I will receive in a couple of days.
Hope it will be as good as the Seagates I had.
