I've been backing up some kids dvds using dvdshrink, just the movie, and the backups play ok with no problems execpt that the subtitles come automatically on any of my two dvd players. It don't seem to have that problem with computer software players. I'm able to switch the subtitles off with the remote but it's kind of annoying. Have anybody experience this with dvdshrink or are my decks are wigging out on me?

  2. Yup!

It's been like that since at least V1.3

I used 1.3 over the weekend to backup the kids Harry Potter 2 (movie only) and got the same subtitle issue. However if I do the whole DVD the problem is not present.

Yeah, Yeah, I know... I should probably use the newer version, but I like the old GUI.

SVCDummy -Yeah, I liked the old gui too, but got used to the new one. And I'm glad my players are not malfuntioning. I guess we have to learn to live with a few glitches after all it's free.

  5. it seems like the re-author mode has more bugs than the disc backup mode....

seems like the author made more drastic fixes with the re-author mode...i haven't seen any problems using the disc backup mode...haven't use the re-author mode, so can't personally say anything about that...

  7. first I've heard of this. Please point me to a thread in the bug report section of dvdshrink where this is being discussed?
    http://forum.digital-digest.com/

How do you rip it? Directly with dvdshrink, dvddecrypter, smartripper?

i did a couple of dvds with dvd shrink

where the subtitles just kept popping up for no reason

i turn the subtitle off with the remote of the stand alone dvd player and they would come back on anyway

i tried to remove them with dvdshrink by clicking on the subtitle and audio selection before i push reauthor

and that didn't work (that option should not be place there as it implies u can take it off there)

i later figure it out that after u click on reauthor and drag the title over to the right spot

that deselecting the audio and subtitles are right there under the video, u just have to slide the slidebar down to see them

and after i take the subpicture or subtitle off

    and everything is fine

p.s. i ripped with dvd shrink

thanks for clarifying it..I'll see if I hear any more reports. If you could remember the titles that did this I'd like to try this myself. However, I'm guessing this is more of a standalone dvd player issue (maybe not..I could be way off base).

But what you said I don't think you understand how dvdshrink works. By default it is in "Full-Disk" mode. If you don't intend to use that mode switch immediately to "Re-Author" mode.

    thanks

i know that know. i didn't know it then

    my dvd player is fine

it only did it with a couple of disc that i did with dvd shrink

i try to find them discs that did it. i burn a lot of discs and i don't remember which ones did it

u misunderstood me as i can't type that good and i'm always looking for a shortcut

i would load the movie from the dvd-rom with dvdshrink
there they would show all the video and audio and subtitles

i had ass-u-me that was the point u diselect everthing before i push reauthor

    i was wrong

    it was after

i just didn't see them after and i had assume they were already gone

    i learned the hard way

i should have read the guide from doom 9

    but i'm the experimenting type

i try to find how every single thing on a program work

    i get errors sometime

but i also learn tricks that way

like how to burn 2 dvds into one dvd with dvdshrink and dvdtoolbox and get better than svcd quality

I get the same result when playing the backup on my GF's GoVideo 853. I don't have this problem on my Apex 500W nor my brother's Bose (don't remember model number). It's no big deal as I can turn it off using the DVD player's remote control. I ended up removing all subtitles and haven't had the problem since.

I know that I can remove the subtitles and I get rid of the problem but I like to be able to keep'm. For now I'm instructing the kids to use the remote control to turn them off.

And I also rip the dvds with dvdshrink and with dvd decryptor, so apparently is the reauthoring mode that messing up.
