I am now the proud owner of a Sony TRV33 camcorder, one of the needs being to feed my 8mm. (analogue) home videos through it and capture them via firewire to the PC. The first time I fired it up and started capture, it reset my PC!! Subsequent attempts resulted in lockup/freezes during setup of the capture software.
The software is U-Lead mediapro 7 (trial). I uninstalled it and borrowed a copy of Premiere 6.5 to try, with the same results.
I then installed Mediapro 7 on my W98SE partition, this ran the capture ok for 20 mins. then I got a blue screen crash, with a message indicating a problem with VXCD (I think).
Hardware is Epox mobo (latest drivers)/Duron 1.3g/512mb. ram/WD 80g. 7200 8mb cache/OHCI compliant Firewire.
Anyone have any ideas why XP (Pro/SP1) should crash? I thought XP was supposed to be pretty good for video work. The only software installed was Mediapro - no anti-virus/firewalls etc.
And why does W98 get to 20 mins. and crash?
All very frustrating.
Cheers, y'all.
