  1. I have a DVD player which plays movies recorded in DivX versions 4 and above and also in theory XVid but not as well in my experience. I have a number of files on my hard drive recorded in earlier versions of DivX and XVid which I have tried to convert to DivX v5 (Pro I think) but with limited success. I have managed to successfully convert only one film using Virtualdub, all others start out fine but get stuck half way through and will not continue. I get an error message 100 suggesting there may be some minor fault with the recorded data. My questions are therefore 1) Is there an easier way to make this conversion which might avoid the problem? 2) Is there any way I can correct the original data even if it means simply removing the frame causing the problem?

  2. I forgot to mention that I have been using Virtualdub to convert these files.
