I am using Tmpge and Ulead DVDWorshop to make my DVDs. They work great on my computer but on my stand alone, they will play and then freeze and then skip on some of the video parts. I think this must have something to do with bit rates etc. Have read on here where workshop sometimes redoes the bit rate when you arthur the video and burn even after Tmpge was used to prep the files. Any one have similar problem and maybe a quick step by step guide I may fix this with?
Would appreciate any assistance. Thanksperplexing

It sounds like it could be related to bitrate, but I don't think DVDWS would ever increase your bitrate. It would only lower it, if you picked a preset that specified a lower bitrate.
What bitrate did you use in TMPGEnc to encode the original source video? -
First time was at 9000 (was for four five min videos). Played great except on one it would hang and skip. Then I lowered it to 6000 and it seemded to do a little better. Still some freeze and skips just not as often.
I am new to the DVD scene and new to workshop. I try to keep it simple. The menus I have done look and work great, just the freeze and hang now and then in the actual videos. I like the workshop because it is simple and produces what seems like a good product. Am I being paranoid on the bit rate? Do not really want to keep degrading quality. Is there enougther area I need to look at?
Thanks for the response.just trying to make a good movie, yep that is what I am trying to do. -
How are you encoding your audio? If you are using uncompressed LPCM, 9000 Kbps is definitely too high. DVD spec states a maximum bitrate for video and audio of 9.8 Mbps (9800 Kbps). At 1536 Kpbs, LPCM audio would put you at 10.536 Mbps.
At 6000 CBR, you should be fine, but if you used VBR, you could still have spikes that put you over the limit. BTW, you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference in video quality between 9000 Kbps and 6000 Kbps. -
Thanks
I did what you said. 6000 and also set it to constant.
Works like a charm now.
Appreciate the assistance to a DVD newbie.
