I recently reinstalled the MMC to my AIW Radeon 7500 to make use of the 'File Player'.
I have been using WinDVD for DVD and prefer it over the ATI DVD Player, however, when I insert a DVD they both try to open and the computer locks up. I set the file association for .vob to the WinDVD, but ATI still attempts to open. I cannot find a 'switch' in ATI SETUP to keep the ATI from opening, the choices I am given do not give that option. I have even set the drive autorun feature (in WinXP Home) to 'Take No Action' but that hasn't worked either.
I need the 'File Player' to access some old ATI .vcr2 format material from when I used to use AIW for capture.
Any suggestions? Or, is the only solution to uninstall and reinstall under Custom and uncheck DVD? Seems there should be a 'switch' somewhere.

If it works, don't fix it.

Run the uninstaller from Control Panel>Add Or Remove Programs but select "Modify", then uncheck DVD Player and bye bye it goes.
