  1. Frankly I figured making a movie would be easier than this on the mac, but….

I have compiled a movie I took from my camcorder using imovie. I followed the various instructions here to try to make an SVCD. However, when I try to export from imovie3, using the idvd settings, it says imovie3 automatically exports to idvd, or something like that, so I never see the file. Where is it? What do I import to QT pro to manipulate further?

    thanks

  2. quicktime doesn't allow you to encode in mpeg-2. Even mpeg-2 plug-in for quicktime that apple sells is only a decoder, so you couldn't export as that. I would try ffmpegX to try and encode a mpeg-2 from a mpeg-1. I just usually do it on my pc, alot better tools for video conversion on pc. Then I just burn on mac. hehe

Not true. if you have DVD STUDIO PRO, there is a quicktime mpeg2 export. Its true the mpeg2 plug in is just for mpeg2 viewing, but there is also a mpeg2 export thats couple with DVD STUDIO PRO install.

Intersting, even with all the "video conversion tools" for osx you still do your work on a PC??

when it exports to iDVD, does it open iDVD? you should see the video in there, and depending on your setup, you can burn directly from iDVD as a DVD.

Now if you dont have a dvd burner, iDVD isnt going to open up. Therefore you wont see the expoert to iDVD.
