  1. Hi! I've done an extensive search of the forums here to see if anyone else has had problems like this, but I can't seem to find anything. This makes me think I'm doing something wrong or that I'm just stupid.

The problem is when I try to encode an AVI (captured using the DC30+) to DVD-compliant MPEG2, any scene with fast motion gives an 'interlaced' appearance. This is most noticeable during credit rolls at the end of a movie or TV programme. The interlacing problem makes it very difficult to read the actual text on screen!

Does the problem come from the capturing using the DC30+ or in the settings that I use in TMPGEnc? The only way I've found to 'mask' the interlacing effects is by using one of the deinterlacing filters (double setting), but that seems to degrade the picture and doesn't completely solve the problem.

For information, I capture using resolution of 768x576 (both fields). I encode to MPEG2 using TMPGEnc using standard resolution of 720x576 and PAL 25fps.

Any help would be greatly appreciated - like I said earlier, I've tried everything and so far no luck!

    Thanks,

    Gavin

I have the same problem too, and the only solution I found was to double de-interlace.

  3. I had the same problem.
After trying different settings i have now the correct setting.

    Select the template svcd

    In the tab advanced
make sure you select at videosource Interlaced.
    Now uncheck all filters below.

    In the tab video
    Check Interlaced
    And select high quality

This Worked for me in PAL.
