Same here, it won't load that nor tooLame. I am having total success with LD and VHS to VCD as far as the picture goes. But the sound was FAR from acceptable quality.

So this is my partial solution until I can get tmpgnc to load the better audio encoder.

I feed my VCR "audio" into my other VCR, as the second one has level control, and I knock down the audio level a couple of notches before it goes to the Canopus ADVC-100. Then in tmpgnc, I select the higher quality (longer encode time) for audio, and the sound is now acceptable. Much cleaner and no breakup like I was hearing. The slightly lower audio level is easier for tmpge to work with. And the high quality setting had not seen at first. Between the two, I am getting much cleaner audio quality now. But this is just a temp solution while I am learning the ropes and trying to get the rest of the settings down.

My plan is to do VCDs while I learn editing and encoding techniques, and then move up to DVD burning after that perhaps in 4 to 6 months.

I have combed the forums looking for solutions to this problem. But it seems almost everyone feels tmpgnc is a "10 out of 10" piece of software, and only a few folks are bothered by poor sound quality.

I will not burn one damn DVD until the sound can be as stellar are found on a store bought new release.

Thanks in advance for the folow up posts and all the great advice that will pour in.

    Jeff
