Has anyone running Windows XP been working or going about your normal business when suddenly....a "windows explorer has encoutered an error and needs to close" message appears? What the heck happened that caused this to happen and should I be concerned?

My guess whould be... "windows explorer has encoutered an error"

OK, time to stop being an A** but I couldn't resist.

Basically it means a programming error occured that there is no code written to recover from (called a "non-graceful error" by programmers). There is really nothing you can do about it, so get pissed off, yell a bit, then take the attitude of FISHDO and hope it doesn't happen agian.

Happens with W2K as well, usually when I'm messing about with video files and the preview window is active.

  8. I've been in the PC game since 3.1 and XP kicks posterior region.

I've been running it since it came out and have not had to re-format my HD do to any complications.

Just recently I did fe-format cause I thought my system was too cluttered to capture properly. Wasn't my system.

It took 1 day and I was up and running. Back in the WIN 95 days... it would take a good week just to get everything back to the way it was.
Don't give in to DVD2ONE, that leads to the dark side.

I agree Macro33....XP is by far the best yet that Microsoft has come out with. I rarely have had any problems/complications with it and it is sooo user friendly. This was the really the first time I had seen an error message like this but otherwise everything is running perfectly!
