  1. I followed the instructions and TMPGENC still won't open the video.vdr.avi file. Anyone know how to solve this?

  2. You have installed dlls for frameclient support and installed the aviproxy in Virtualdub. In TMPGEnc select Optiions, Environmental Setting, VFAPI tab, right click on Multimedia File Reader and raise the priority. See if that helps.

  3. I tried that. I'm using VD1.3c, and when I installed the handler, the reg file thingies (like in the example) looked different than what vcdhelp has shown. ...but maybe that's cause the screenshots were taken on windows2000 and I'm using win98se.

  5. I am using VirtualDub V1.4d Win98SE and have no problems frameserving to TMPGEnc with a .vdr or .avi file.

I have found the opposite to be true !
Cannot achieve frameserving with p6 to TMPEGenc.
    Have read the link :
    http://www.vcdhelp.com/premiereavisynth.htm

    but still missing something .

    http://www.math.berkeley.edu/~benrg/avisynth-premiere.html

1-Export your movie and choose "Link to Avisynth" as the file type.
2-Enter a dummy file name for the movie. This file will not be created, but will be used as an identifier for the server. It doesn't matter what directory you "save" it in.
3-Click Save, and a little window should pop up which says, "Now serving. To connect from Avisynth use the following command..."
4-Copy the command to the clipboard and paste it into a new text document. Save the document with a .AVS extension.
5-Open this file in any application which supports AVS files

please explain line - 4- as this seems to be where i am missing the point.

    thanks

never mind fixed it . seems i needed version 0.3 and not *.dll version 1.0 beta . works now

I used to have problems. I then raised the priority of the "DirectShow Multimedia File Reader" and I have never had a problem since. I just start the fserver in vdub 1.45d and save it as filename.vdr. Then open the .vdr in TMPGEnc 12i. Before I changed the priority, TMPGEnc would just sit there like it was loading but never would. Then I would ctrl-ald-del and try to kill it (would take about 8 times) and then start tmpgenc again and try and it would work (most of the time).
