  1. I am admittedly a neophyte.

After days of capturing, editing, and transcoding I downloaded the trial version of TMPEnc DVD author to take a stab at making a DVD. Everything seemed to be OK.

When I went to burn to DVD, I saw that DVD Author had created three volumes. I then wanted to burn these using Nero Express. I didn't know which directories to drag over. I tried all three volumes, but Nero complained about duplicate files. I then tried just one volume (Vol three, which had both VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders). It worked, but created a DVD that was missing several of the chapters. It also appeared flakey (skipped sometimes, menu odd color when hovering over the icons, etc.)

Which directories do I drag over? Did I author it incorrectly? I've been working on this for almost two days straight and after several attempts, would greatly appreciate one success. Can anyone point me to info to read or explain what I'm missing?
    Thanks,
    Dean

    Details about directories:
    In Volume 1:
    E:\TMPGEnc Image\Volume 1\VIDEO_TS
which contains several files like VIDEO_TS.BUP, .IFO, and VTS_01_0.VOB through VTS_01_5.VOB

    In Volume 2:
    E:\TMPGEnc Image\Volume 2\VIDEO_TS
    which contains VTS_01_0.VOB through VTS_01_3.VOB

    In Voume 3:
    E:\Video Editing\8mm#4\DVD1\TMPGEnc Image\Volume 3\AUDIO_TS
    which is empty, and
    E:\Video Editing\8mm#4\DVD1\TMPGEnc Image\Volume 3\VIDEO_TS
    which contains VIDEO_TS.BUP, .IFO, VTS_01_0.IFO, VIDEO_TS.VOB, ... and VTS_01_0.VOB through VTS_01_5.VOB.

Volume 1 and 3 seem almost the same, except that they were created at different times and there is an extra .BUP in volume 3, I believe. Some files are slightly different in length.

Each volume is a dvd. You must have authored three times with tmpgenc dvd author. The last volume is the latest you authored. You add the video_ts in nero.

  3. You are exactly right, thank you!
The first volumes were aborted or failed attempts. I didn't realize it was creating a new volume for each attempt, instead of overwriting.
Got it solved, now! Made my first DVD and even another with multiple tracks. Great fun!!! Now if I could just figure out why the the ONLY player in the house that skips/delays is the one in my home theater PC . Guess that's a topic for another forum. I think that the Lite-On DVD ROM might be flaking out, but it's OK on commercial DVDs.
    Thanks again!
