I've tried using DVD Patcher 1.06, to fool my author software (TMPGenc DVD Author, latest version) into letting me create the files so that I can burn a mixed DVD-R, that contains 1 NTSC movie and 1 PAL movie
DVD Patcher worked, but the author software still insists it isn't the correct format, I know that, I'm just trying to persude it to 'think' they are both PAL/NTSC, so I can patch it back to the correct format before burning it
I have a few files that are mixed PAL/NTSC, that I need to put onto DVD-R
as mixed formats
Anybody managed to be succesful at folling author software to accept mixed formats, my stand-alone can play both, so I haven't a problem playing them, just getting the damn things onto DVD would be nice though !!
I know its against DVD 'standards' but why can't author software just have an advanced setting that will allow mixing NTSC/PAL or even better non-standard formats to be created ?
Just a simple 'Allow non-standard DVD formats' switch would be enough, its not much to ask ... is it ??
We know what we are doing

to put it nicely, not a hope in heck of getting this to work.
You have to convert the video so that it is all the same format.
I have never had sucess at even mixing D1, Half-D1 and CIF formats and all were NTSC.
Looks like a DVD has to have all video and audio in the same format of it does not play properly.--

willy_annand: If you mix different resolutions be sure to make a new vts(video title set, new vob file) for each resolution. Not all authoring tool does this, tmpgenc dvd author does this if you select new track. I have tried mix some ntsc clips and it worked fine on my pioneer dvd player.
steptoe: yep, all authoring tool should have that option(allow non standards) ...anyone know how to contact the tmpgenc dvd author creator(s)? so we could recommend that settings -
As far as I am aware, the only way you can contact the authors of TMPGenc DVD Author, and actually get a response, or recognition of your suggestion is to actually buy a copy
This way, you can use their support/feedback form, which requests your serial number
Fair point I suppose, if you bothered to buy their software, then they know you are uspporting them, otherwise it won't get any further
But somebody out there needs to be made aware that a switch DOES need to be added to allow non-standard DVD's
Even a simple switch, with a warning that if the DVD won't play, don't blame the software, which is maybe why they don't/won't do it
I suppose theyd on't want tons of querstions about like ' I did this, now it won't play'
Just an option to 'allow PAL/NTSC mixed' will save loads of people all the aggrevation of converting movies/episodes etc
Or is this just a ploy so they can still rip us off, and force people to continue buying NTSC/PAL because the region coding on their DVD system won't allow anything else ???????????????????? -
