  1. Hello all,

My leaving video is finally complete. My lesson learnt is to NEVER try to export a 16 minute video from an iMac!!

Anyway, I've been editing what the iMac buggered up on my AMD PC. I was just wondering what the settings for exporting to MPEG should be if I'm going to make a VCD - I want it to be the best possible quality for VCD. No need for interactive stuff - just put it in and play. The actual video is DV format.

I'm using premiere to export, with just the encoders that came with it.

    Thanks in advance

get tmpgenc (free for vcd) , load dv into it ... load vcd template .. hit go..

    more or less it ..

some futher guides on the left if you want ...

but the steps above will be a lot easier than using premiere ..

oh -- i thought you had imported it as dv from the mac ..

if you are using premiere to edit instead ... it depends on what version of premiere you have for your next step ...

you dont have to export from premiere to dv - you were just unclear on what you were doing ..

  5. Sorry, didn't make it very clear

I made the original on an iMac and spent all day exporting the thing from the blasted mac back onto miniDV tape, which I then captured on my PC and finished the editing that the mac messed up on here.

Now I want to export the finished film from Premiere - should I follow your instructions and export as DV files in premiere? If so, how do I export as DV files?

    I'm using Premiere 6

    Thanks for your help

premiere 6 uses the lsx mpeg encoder ..

so just export it using that ligos lsx encoder built into premiere 6 .. using the vcd guides as to required bit rate and resolution found here on the left ..

vcd is mpeg1 if that is any help ...

or you can frame serve it out of premiere into tmpgenc ... guides on how to do that also to the left .. i think ...
