  1. does anyone else have problems with jerky playback when encoding DVD to mpeg.

I use Flask with the bbmeg plugin
I have also tried framserving to Tmpegnc

the converted file plays back but jerks along instead of moving smoothly...more noticable on scrolling scenes..

Not all dvds I have encoded have this problem but most do PAL or NTSC...

    Dungeons and dragons (ntsc) terrible
    The Gift (pal) bad

    Red planet (pal) perfect

    Can anyone help

  2. does it shake like the movie was filmed during an earthquake?? if this is the case it is probably the field order. try switching it to its opposite... tmpgenc, settings, advanced tab.

  3. Jerkiness can be caused by framerate conversions. For instance when the source material is 23.976fps (NTSC Film) and you create a (S)VCD with 25fps (PAL).
To Avoid it convert it to an mpeg with the same framerate as the source material.
