    What can I do about sound that soft sound (i have to jack-up the sound to hear anything)

    VHS or DVD?

    For VHS you can make sure that you are recording at the higest levels.

    For DVD you can enable things like "dialouge boost" or "dynamic range control" or other post-proccessing tools.
