  1. Steps I am taking to turn VHS/TV to DVD:
    1. Capture DV AVI type2 (have also tried type1)via ADVC DV converter
    2. Splitting AVI into DVD compliant elementary video(mpv) and audio(pcm) files using Mainconcept Mpeg encoder ver. 1.3.1
    3. Following BeSweet guide (found here) to convert pcm to ac3

    Problems
    1. pcm file cannot be played in any player I have to see if it is OK
    2. ac3 file has only hissing on it

Please help as I have searched the forums up and down.

    Thanks

  2. Try ripping out the sound with VirtualDub. That will leave you with a WAV file, then run that through BeSweet to AC3... works for me.

Are you using the GUI for BeSweet?
Don't give in to DVD2ONE, that leads to the dark side.

  3. I am looking to cut down the number of steps in the process. Eventually I may use your suggested workaround but I would like to understand what the problems with Mainconcept and pcm files are. Yes I am using the GUI.
