I have a couple movies in *.avi format that I would LOVE to change into a Video_TS file so I can burn it onto a DVD+R. Any ideas? I can't seem to get anything to do it.

I am going to try this also. I have had trouble trying to get my standalone to play my burned DVD's. I was successful in syncing up the audio and video (finally after much trial and error) but when I used IFOedit to get my VOB files together and burned it, my player kept telling me "Not a compatible disc please insert another." I did use PowerDVD and the newly converted movie played just fine. This is frustrating without a doubt.

@frosty2003
It would probably be best to open a new thread for a new issue but here's the fix I found fixed this problem when it happened to me. At doom9 I found out that IFOEdit authored DVDs have problems with first play. Using ImgTool by CuJo fixed the problem for me and know my DVDs play perfectly. You will need Nero 5.5.9 for version 1.00.4 of ImgTool just check Reallocate VIDEO_TS if its not already checked and the other box and you should be set. Hopefully this solves your problem
To download ImgTool 1.00.4 just go to tools on this site and find ImgTool click the download link and select 1.00.4 for download -
Blackdeath:
I appreciate the help unfortunately I am new to this "forum" thing and it seems anywhere I put my comments or problem they are not welcomed. But nevertheless I thank you for the advice. I will follow up on it immediately.
I just bought some new DVD RW discs b/c I am "tired" of wasting discs when making mistakes. I do know though that I keep getting closer and closer to FINALLY making my own DVD movies.
Will let you know when I succeed.
Thanks,

I just finished using "IMG Tool" and I did what you said and read the instructions also. I got "incompatible disc" again.

Well lets see then...the one thing I'm thinking of is you're using +s or -s and your DVD player supports the other. So maybe switch to the other and try that. As far as I know ImgTool makes some of the most compliant discs as compliant as home burned discs can get. So check on the + or - thing and maybe take a peek at the DVD player section of this site.
Best of luck 8)
Edit : Could you also post what program you used to convert the avis and do you know if your authored DVD is at 29.97fps or 23.976fps? -
I use DVD +RW b/c I can't find DVD -R in some stores. I will try tonight at Walmart again.

I use TMPEnc to encode. It works well and I use 23.976 fps b/c that is what VDUB tells me.

Well I can't use DVD -R b/c I forgot my burner only does +R/RW. I did however burned my Shawshank Redemption movie on DVD +R and got great video but no audio.
Video MPEG 2
Audio MPEG 2.0
I got a feeling it has to do with my IFOedit but not sure.
And it's amazing to I couldn't get the audio in sync until I took care of a couple of error frames that were messing things up.

I have some avi files from TV shows on my PC and I want them on DVD as well.
I tried this program called EO video - to basiclly convert to MPEG2 format.
Is that what I need to do so I can watch this on a standalone DVD player?
Any comments on EO video, besides hogging the heck out my CPU for 3 hrs?
