Hi
Can someone help me please i have just purchased this DVD recorder Philips 890 and everytime i insert any disk to play (originals) it takes a while to read and then comes up with No Disk, is there a fault with this and should i exchange it or is it something i am doing wrong in the setup.

I've got the Philips 880 and i've had nothing but problems...the same thing, and also when I've tried recording over dvd+rw's it won't let me

Have you tried to look for a firmware upgrade?

what is firmware...i've heard people talk about it before? God...i'm so new at this

Firmware is software which DVD understand and read different media like CD, DVD+r-R or DVD-rw.-B

Ok...i've just had a look at the link...I think thats only for dvd writers? My recorder is a standalone dvd recorder
