Why are some Vcd's in Black and White?

I've taken color movies like Red Planet and converted them into mpg files. Theey were still in color at that point.

Using either nero5.xx or in another computer using ez- CD creator 5.0 plat, when I finished the burn they played in Black and white on my Philips dvd player.

Any ideas?

This sounds like a NTSC/PAL issue to me.

If your tv-set does not support both formats, check if you can set your DVD-player to output everything at the format that your tv-set accepts.

If this isn't possible, you need to make sure that you encode and author your VCDs according to NTSC or PAL specifications - depending on where you live.
