  1. I have just purchased an MSI 8404 multi format burner in Australia.
After DVD Xpress finishes reading the movie on my Sony DVD-Rom, it asks for a blank dvd media to start copying process, and even though there is a blank media in my MSI burner, it is not detected, or maybe the burner is not detected by DVD Xpress. The start button is supposed to turn but is greyed out and nothing happens when I click on it.I am able to burn onto DVD media using other software though.Could it be that my burner is not supported by DVDX copy Xpress. Maybe because after I installed Xpress the box that usually comes up assking for a drive to be selected did NOT come up during installation.I believe my burner is exactly the same as the AccessTek DD0203 and Optorite DD0203 multi format burners.Has anyone had success with the above burners and DVDx Copy Xpress.
My system is running on Win Xp Pro with the latest Microsoft patches and Adaptec ASPI layers. I do not have EZ CD creator installed, which I believe may cause conflict problems.
Anyone out there that may have the same burners mentioned above or has had similar problems and fixed it, it would be greatly appreciated if a solution is provided.

  2. Hey theok,
I have the same problem you have, I just got a new Optorite DD0203 and is seems it was not supported by the DVDx Copy Xpress either. I did go to their website and I found this:
    OptoRite DVD +/-
    Sanyo DVD +/-
We are currently writing in support for these very new designs. Generally, these will not function at all with the current version.

    Here is the link:

So I guess we need to wait to update the drive. Also I tried InstantCopy from Pinnacle with no luck. Let me know if you are successful.

  3. Both of you can copy your disks -- just don't use DCX to do the burn.

Don't put a burnable disk in your drive (if you are reading from a separate ROM drive) and just wait until it asks you to insert a writable disk At this point don't close down the program (or it will erase the source files) but go to your burning software (like Record Now or Nero) and find the DXCopy directory that it places on your hard drive. Copy over the folders VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS onto your DVD and burn it. Now you can close Xpress.

I never use Xpress for my burning for other reasons, but this is the best way to get around any other burning problems you might have.

  4. To add to more what theok has to say. You can also use Ctrl-Alt-Del and kill xcopy and make dvd later using any program. - B
