    I am trying to convert an asf file to mpeg1/2 and I cannot open the asf in either tmpgenc or virtualdub.

    Are there any specific codecs I need for these?

    Here is what I do.
    convert to .wmv with MS media encoder
    then TMPGenc will read it fine.
