I have a region free toshiba dvdrom 1712 with the latest firmware that is no limitations. What I would like to know is how do you know how fast a dvd is being ripped? How would one check the speed of how fast it takes to rip a dvd? Is it from a dvd burner that you can check from or from the dvd rom. I am just curious about it. I don't own a dvd burner yet but I make vcd and svcd movies from my region 3 dvds. Thanks in advance! I posted this simliar question at "THE FIRMWARE PAGE FORUM". Using disc info 125 just shows 48x read speed.

  2. well, couldn't you just rip a dvd and see how fast it's ripping?

nero has a CD speed check program, but reading speed doesn't necessarily correspond to ripping speed.

i believe certain toshiba (or maybe all) dvd-roms were locked to 2x ripping as a way to deter ripping.

LOL@me!!!! Thanks for responding to my posting....I found the nero speed and will test it out later.....I have the no limitation hack on my toshiba dvdrom 1712.....it supposedly goes beyond 2x ripping.....I use all in one proggies to make my vcds and svcds.....haven't used tmgpe and cce on it's own yet or combinations with other proggies.
