  1. please can someone help me
    i have downloaded numerous .avi files and converted them successfully with tmpge & nero however lately whenever i load the .avi then the uncompressed .wav then tmpge crashes i tried in desparation to use dvd2svcd & this worked fine however i didnt realise that i could not durn the resulting file to dvd.
    please please somebody help me.

    This usually happens when tmpgenc does not understand the video compression used. Make sure that you are running the latest codec

    It also happens when the audio is in a compression that it cannot understand. Open up the avi in goldwav. Save the wav file. Then when opening tmpgenc, choose the avi as your video source and the wav as your audio source

  3. hey thanks for your reply however gspot confirms the codec is installed (xvid) & dvd2svcd used tmpge successfully.
    any other ideas as i am totally stuck and confused.

    I still suggest trying to load the avi into goldwav and saving the audio to a wav file...then importing both into tmpgenc.

    The reason dvd2svcd may have worked is it separates the audio track and the video track into 2 separate elements before sending to tmpgenc
