This has proven to be quite a dilemma for me.

I downloaded a episode of my favorite television series and found out to my dismay that it is in PAL format. After wrestling with Virtualdub and TMPGEnc, I have determined that converting this beast is impossible.
TMPGenc recognizes the source as an MPEG-2 and according to all the instructions in conversion of PAL to NTSC, I must use DVD2AVI which does not recognize the file. I have tried several times to convert it with TMPGEnc but unfortunately the output is totally unwatchable. I believe I need to convert both the audio AND the video seperately and feed both of those into TMPGEnc. I have been successful in converting the audio but the video seems to be close to impossible. If anyone else has figured out how to accomplish this, I would greatly appreciate it.

I have also tried the other suggestions here all to no avail...with the exception of AVISYNTH simply because it looks too complicated to me.

  3. You can try Aare Avi to vcd/dvd/svcd converter, In fact, the software also can convet mpeg to ntsc or pal, just add the pal mpeg file to list, and select options to PAL, then click convert button. http://www.2shareit.com

Thank you so much for this insight. I will try the Aare AVI convert tomorrow morning and post my results here as soon as I can get the episode converted. Again thanks for your help...I can't wait to give this a try.
