  1. Haven't been able to download since friday. Would like to check out Studio version 7. Can't even get patches for version 5.

    Anybody know what's up?
Don't give in to DVD2ONE, that leads to the dark side.

VS7 not worth using, Media Studio 7 is, and it is $500.
Vegas 4 is $500 and DVD-Lab is $80 a much better combination, unless you need AC3 audio.

BTW, Sonic Video Factory is $70 and I liked it much better than VS7.

Plus, try and get any customer support/satisfaction from Ulead. Next to impossible. Sonic, fast and helpful replies.

  5. Looking for a software that will cap straight to MPEG2.

Nope, I was just at Ulead still not working for me.

Even Vegas doesn't cap to MPEG2... you can save it to MPEG2 but you have to cap first to AVI.

My DAC-100 is sitting dormant till I resolve this.

    O' well

  6. Videostudio works for me. It will transcode from DV-avi to MPG-2. What it does , is capture a set amount, pauses your camcorder, transcodes the capture, then starts up again. It does this until your capture is complete. I mainly use Videostudio for quick and small projects. I also use Premire 6.5 when I need to really create certain effects and styles. I even have Pinnacle Studio and Roxio. Some clients don't have the high end programs so, it's good to be versed in as many as you can. A lot of programs may not be "worth using" to some people but if it is what they can afford and it works for them, it's the best program in the world. I have seen some Video projects made with Windows Moviemaker that were rather impressive. As for Videostudio's support, it's slow but it gives good answers. There was a transcode problem. Solved with a patch.

You have a choice Marco, you can either have fast (straight to MPEG2 in realtime) or you can have quality. The MPEG2 capture programs that I have either tried or read reviews on sacrifice quality for speed. For my money, I will take quality. I don't want my video captures looking like 6 hour VHS dupes.
