I am looking for a website where I can download viruses/trojans for testing purposes, along with clear explanations of how they infect the pc, and also methods to delete the viruses/trojans.

Why test with a real virus that might harm your computer, test with hte test virus at eicar.org
http://eicar.org/anti_virus_test_file.htm

Without knowing for sure about the actual intentions for virus samples, this type of request should NEVER be granted especially on an open forum. Even if the the OP's request is honorable, there are those who would read it whose intentions aren't.

We understand (from the many emails we receive) that it might be difficult for you to delete the test file from your PC. After all, your scanner believes it is a virus infected file and does not allow you to access it anymore. At this point we must refer to our standard answer concerning support for the test file. We are sorry to tell you that EICAR cannot and will not provide AV scanner specific support. The best source to get such information from is the vendor of the tool which you purchased. -
Got it. Like copyrighted material. Can't advocate, post or link to it. The viruses I come across I will archive for my own personal use. Where I am, nearly 100% of the USB memory sticks/mp3 players that students carry are infected with viruses/trojans. One good question is: How the viruses might alter/damage these USB devices. I know that in one case, the virus made all the music files hidden on the mp3 player, and then the music would not play.
Also, I know that when one person's computer was infected, she paid Semantic $100US to have the malware deleted.
Semantic did it by remote assistance.
See:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/300546
Took several hours for the job to be done. I would say that is great job if you can do it
( delete viruses on computers all over the world by remote and charge $100 per incident.)
Judging by the sponsored adds on Google for remote support, this is a flourishing business. -

Viruses on USB sticks can't execute themselves.
The simple procedure at:

solved the problem. Now I can see the autorun+exe files and I just delete them.

Guys, why do you keep responding to his nonsensical posts? Read his other posts - they all lack sense. As soon as I saw the subject I knew right away who started the thread.
Either he's a complete moron or he's a troll. Either way, you're just wasting your time responding. In fact, I think I am going to stop replying to any thread he starts because it's clear that doing so is a waste of my time. I'm just unsure whether his motivation for asking is stupidity or he's playing games but either way it's a complete waste of time to reply. -
agree with jman..i've only come back to this forum for a couple weeks and I quickly picked up on the recurring theme of his posts. I also knew who it was just by looking at the title.

AVG free will easily remove the virus found in the test files provided in the link above from Eicar.

Turn off your firewall and antivirus and surf the crapy websites, in no time you'll catch one if you don't already have one! then see how it works. There are tens of thousands of infected computers and zombies out there without knowing it!!! and they all have firewalls and anti viruses.

Antivirus products sometimes have a hard time detecting and removing malware. They are not foolproof either.
Telling someone to disable all that stuff is irresponsible. His actions could infect someone else on the network, or it could spread beyond that.
Firewalls must have a short list of rules. If you have multiple rules, then management of that firewall can be unwieldy.Believing yourself to be secure only takes one cracker to dispel your belief. -
