How does one go about editing a vob so that it plays in a logical order. I have a dvd of dbz father of goku that has the movie put together in a random order. And I want to take the vob and edit it so it plays in a logical order. Thanks Black Omne![]()

Rename the vob to mpg (optional), convert it to avi using VirtualdubMod, edit the avi in our favorite video editor, then re-encode back to dvd compiant file with TMPGEnc or some other encoder.
Does that answer your question? -
The problem with converting to AVI with virtualDub is that the output file is HUGE, more thant 1go/min. Is there a way to directly edit a VOB or MPEG2 file?

Hi Blackomne,
I understand that dvdshrink 2.3 (latest version i know of) can be used to put the desired vobs into chronological order.

You can de-mux the vob using vobedit...I would suggest demux all video streams, audio, and subpicture...to a m2v file. Open the m2v in tmpegenc, using "file->mpeg tools" cut it where you want until you have a bunch of little m2v file. The re-merge all the files in the correct order. Remux using ifoedit "Author dvd" option and save to a VIDEO_TS directory somewhere. After it's done re-muxing everyting drag the VIDEO_TS folder into your software dvd player (PowerDVD, winDVD). If it plays correctly all you should have to do then is burn that folder to a dvd. There is no re-encoding so the whole process should take too long. Hope that helps.
