    Hello everyone,

I have a .gif file which I created from a number of .jpeg files. Now I want to make a VCD from this .gif file. Please tell me if this can be done.

    Many thanks

I'm not sure if an animated GIF can be used. You could take all of those JPG files and load them into TMPEG as a video source one at a time. To make a "video clip" of the still picture you only need to add a WAV file. The pic will last as long as the WAV... example... a 3 second silent WAV will result in that picture displaying for 3 seconds. You could do this a bunch of times and them stitch them together. ONce done, save the video and mux it with audio (music) of your choice.

The program VCDEasy will do this for you much easier than that but I have not used this method and cannot comment on it. You can find the program in the tools section on the left hand side of the page.

If you can convert the animated GIF into a BMP sequence, quite a few video programs can accept it. There may even be a few that will take an animated GIF. I can't really say. I only ever made 1 slideshow and I did it using the LONG, SLOW method mentioned above becasue back then it was the only way.

Hope this was of some help.

I can't say how good the quality will be but try a program like Gif Movie Gear. It will let you load the gif and save it as an avi. Then you can use tmpgenc to convert it to vcd format.

The program has a trial version.
There's not much to do but then I can't do much anyway.

Thanks for all responses to my question.

I did try Gif Movie Gear and it worked. I successfully created an AVI file which has a very good quality video. Now, I'll have to try to manipulate TMPGEnc to synchonize the video and the audio portions. Separately, the video file and audio file, each has the same length (around 5 minutes). But when I created the MPG file, somehow the video portion almost doubles in length timewise; instead of 5 minutes of video, I ended up with 8 minutes. I suspected it's the frame rate that I have to work on.

    Thanks again everyone.
