I connected my VCR to my Canopus ADVC1394 capture card using the S video cable and I am not able to capture the audio. I get the video but no audio.
I have been able to capture analog 8MM tapes from ny video camera using vegas video.
What is the difference between the VCR connection and the camera? The VCR is about 15 years old could this be the problem? I get decent quality of video and audio when it is connected to the TV.

svideo only carries the video signal not the audio, you should also connect a couple of phono cables, usually red and white for the left and right audio channels.
