    Has anyone update the NEC ND-1000A with this firmware. Any use after updating the firmware?

    no, but i have sucesfully upgraded it with the firmware for the ND1100A and the HP DVDWriter 300.

    by using the HP firmware you can also change the dvd booktype.

    After seeing this post, I went off and did some searching and reading. My ND1000A is now flashed with the HP firmware, and successfully writes at 4x on the TDK 4X DVD+R media now on sale at Best Buy.
