  1. I was just in Office Depot to get a few things....not pertaining to DVD MEDIA...but I wanted to speak to the manager to ask about exchanging these crappy DVD-R disks for the DVD+R's...of course they still didn't have any of the DVD+R's in...and being that I'll never purchase another crappy Verbatim disk again...I figured I'd see what he could do because it's messed up to be outta stock for so long...anyway, the guy agreed and said he would give me a buy 1 get 1 free Philips 25 pack spindle which retails for $44.99 .....he said that was actually the promotion they are currently running...I told him I wasn't interested in getting 2 spindles...so he told me he'd let me get one spindle for half price...so 25 disks for less then a dollar a piece...and they are the Philips 2.4x DVD+R's...

I thought about it..but realized that i'm now addicted to 4x media..so I passed up on the offer...but still thought some would like to know about this buy 1 get 1 free deal..because for less then $1 a disk....that isn't bad...especially for what some would call "BRAND" media.

  2. I think the manager got it wrong, or was sold-out on the 5pk

Because the deal says buy 25 get 5 free, still not bad at $1.50 each total cost (no mail-in rebate).

  3. I like the Verbatim so much more than the Phillips this wouldn't interest me even if it was a buy 1 get 2 free.

OTOH, you can get 4x TDK +R right now from Target for $1.50 per disk. Hard to beat that (good until Saturday).

  4. I will never buy verbatim media again after the 15 I bought from bestBuy were all bad. I have never had any problems with any media (TDK, Ritek, Princo, Philips, or CompUSA brand) except Verbatim.

  5. And my dad bought a terrible Chevy when he was 23 years old -- he only bought Fords for the rest of his life (over 50 years and about 20 vehicles). Claims Chevy couldn't make a car that would run to save its life.

Lots of problems with lots of media out there -- but I do know the dark blue backed Verbatims are among the best media made (300 burns so far without a coaster -- never made one, never will :>)

  6. That is funny that people don't like Verbatim media. That is all I use and I have yet to have a bad burn. I did try some Maxell a couple of weeks ago and lost 2 out of 10. So I am sticking to Verbatim. But I will try any brand at least one time.
