Finally sussed what might be causing 'frzoen' frames in the MPEG2 output, noticed a load of errors in the log of one of the problem AVI's, but until I get a reply from MainConcept, anybody suggest why I'm getting a buffer underflow, and whats causing it
I had a load of frames skipped as well, but, if I convert the exact same source AVI using Canopus ProCoder, into the exact same output format (DVD NTSC 720x480), it does it perfectly with no 'frozen' video at all
I'd rather use MainConcept's MPEG Encoder though, various reasons, apart from the fact that its at least 2-3 times faster, and supports very easy to set-up batch conversion
Thanks for suggestions

Sounds like MainConcept traded quality for speed.
I will stick with TMPGEnc, sure it takes me a couple of minutes to setup a batch, but the results are excellent.--

Nope, output quality is very good, even with default settings, apparently its used in a lot of DVD author software that offers built in conversions as well
After playing with a few settinsg I can get very good quality, but only recently noticed the vbv_buffer underflow error
I assume its the encoder being very picky about the source to get the best output, whereas Canopus Procoder is not as fussy -
