  1. I have ripped just the movie files of one of my DVDs to my hard drive using dvd dycrpter. After ripping these files the total space is less than 4.37 gig. Can I just put these files in a VIDEO_TS folder with an empty AUDIO_TS folder and burn using Nero, or is there a step I am missing? Thanks in advance.

  3. Do I just burn the files or do I need to put them in a VIDEO_TS folder and make an AUDIO_TS folder? Nero is not needed? Thanks.

  4. You need to put them in the folders -- that's the DVD spec (although many players will play without an AUDIO_TS).

You need to use burning software that properly burns to the DVD specs -- those like Nero or Record Now will recognize the DVD structure and burn the appropriate way.

  5. If there were extras, etc. on your disk, you cannot just throw the main movie files in a folder and burn a completely comliant DVD. You need to correct the ifo files using ifoedit. There are plenty of guides on how to burn a dvd where the main movie is less than 4.37GB. You must correct the ifo files, however. Find an ifoedit guide and it can guide you through the process.

If you get confused, just use dvddecrypter to rip an ISO image. Then use it to burn the disk.

  7. Ok... there's a lot of advise that's on point but not to clear. For more information take a look at "What is DVDR" to the left. The DVD standard calls for certain files to be present. These include the:

    VIDEO_TS.IFO
    VIDEO_TS.BUP
    VIDEO_TS.VOB

When you rip just the main movie you do not get these files (VTS). You need to generate new VTS files prior to burning. You can do this with IFOEdit.

    1) Run IFOEdit and open the ripped VTS_XX_XXX.ifo file
    2) Click on 'get VTS sectors'
    3) Once the new files have been generated, create a VIDEO_TS folder and burn.

why would one have to go that route? Just select the three aformentioned files along with the main movie files and put them into a folder on the desktop. Then you IFOEdit to strip streams..afterwards selecting Get VTS Sectors and region free.

Is the other method better for any reason? I actually read in a guide from Doom9 months ago, the best method is what I just referred to. You can keep subs most of the time too and maybe even everything...extra audio and subs..depending on the file size.

the answer to your first question is yes if u copy the whole movie and it is less than 4.37 gig but u have check create ifos first in ifoedit

    http://www.doom9.org/Soft21/Vobtools/Ifoedit095.zip

u do not need to make an audio_ts folder

    nero does it automatically
