X-Boxs come with one of three very different DVD drives, so it really depends on which drive yours has. Most don't have too much trouble with either, just don't use cheap unbranded disks.

the XBOX I currently have will play DVD+R. I bought it at US launch. I don't have a DVD-R drive, so I couldn't expound on that.

The xbox can play both media formats, from what ive read from other users +R has more compatability, But please, please listen to me, DO NOT USE MEMOREX DVD-R's in the blue case, THEY ARE COMPLETE KAUFKA. Burned 2 games to them, i never seen such horrible load times.
