  1. When the VCD is played on TV, what's the picture quality like? Eg. when divx movies are played at 100% size in WinMedPlay. the picture is excellent. But when I go full screen in WMP the quality goes down... the VCD when shown on your TV is equal to full screen WMP quality or better?

(could I assume that the quality of the VCD will be the same as hooking my TV up to my ATI Rage Fury Pro Video Out jack and playing the Divx movie in WMP6.4 at full screen mode?)

    a most interesting question.

a properly encoded vcd can look as good as vhs.

i have also read that the size of your tv plays a role. a small tv is less likly to show faults in the encoding.

From my own experience, when playing a VCD in WMP at 100%, the quality is awesome! When playing the VCD in WMP at 200% (like it should theoretically be on a TV @ 704x480) the quality is so-so. When playing the same VCD in my DVD player output to my TV, the quality is a bit less than awesome, but alot better than WMP @ 200%.

WMP at full-screen is just horrible imo, and is certainly no representation of what it will look like on a TV.

I never trust the presentation that Windows Media player gives at full screen. I my oppinion, 32' is the largest anyone should play homemade VCDs on, but 25' looks best without being too small.
