Ive sepant many hours banging my head from this subject. I use EazyVCD to make my MPEG-2 files, and then multiplex to VCD for home viewing. I want/need sub-tiltles in my movies. As V_Strip does not make an IFO file, I just copied the original from the DVD. Is this possible? So, the only thing I needed to change was the name of the ripped files as they match the "VTS_01_1",l but when I used Subrip it didnt find any sub-titles.
Note that I also tried extracting directly from the DVD, but the "long" subtitles always seem scrambled; I figure as the VOBs are encrypted. I believe even Subrip warns not to use encrypted VOBs in the first place.
So, a few questions?
1) Do the VOBs written from V_Strip contain the necessary sub-title info in them?
2) If so, how can I create a propper IFO file so it finds them?
3) Or is it best I just use a different ripper?

Oh yah,
Based on what Ive read, it looks like sub-titles are only supported in the SVCD format? If I multiplex these file to VCD, using mpeg tools in TMPEnc (so they be viewed on my standalond home DVD), will the sub-tiles still be there? Is it possible to have sub-titles in a VCD format?
Thanks!Any information is worth its weight in gold!
