I have followed the guides on doing svcd to dvd and no matter what I do I can not get it to play back in the right screensize. Either it's centered and small or the horizontal size is wrong...I've tried patching it as described and also not patching it as my dvd player has no problem with playing svcd I'm at a loss as to what the problem could be here and would appreciate any help I can get to sort this out.

Not sure if this is the same problem I had or not, but for me the final product was way off when I preview it on my PC, only about half the video could be seen, any ideas?

i had same prob flaystus untill i changed the headers back.

    try step 6
(Optional Step 6 - Change back the "Headers")
If the DVD-SVCD does not work on your DVD Player or it looks strange you can try this. Instead of burning in Ulead you make an dvd folder. And then you use DVD Patcher again and open the .vobs and change them back to the original SVCD resolution, change to 480 under Horizontal and patch all vobs.

Only prob is when i burned a dvd the menu is like the vids were before i edited headers. But films played without any probs.

I tried patching the files back to thier original 480x480 but it still comes out wierd on my dvd player(Lenoxx2002) I don't use Ulead dvd maybe I should I have been using ifoedit to author with mind you I have also tried using TMpeg dvd author and got the same results so I'm starting to think that it might be my dvd player that doesn't like this type of format.Would appreciate some feedback on this and hopefully I'll be able to find out what is happening here.

I have been playing around with this proggie for over a week and I've
got the same problem> I don't think it's anything to do with your player,
as it seems to be happening to a few of us.

It looks as if the program needs rewriting to sort this continued problem
    out.

Well it's kinda reassuring that I'm not the only one getting this problem but I do wonder if it's because I'm using the freeware version svcd2dvdmpg. Anyone out there getting this problem on the +version???
I will buy the +version if I know that it works but if this the case I'll be just a little bit pissed off because I've wasted 3dvdr's so far on this and as I live in Canada it's no cheap deal as dvdr's cost $3 each (£1.50).
Really hope this program gets off the ground as it will be very useful to me as I download a of svcd movies and storage is a bit of a problem.
Much respect to chrissy boy 8) 8) 8)

I'm providing Chrissyboy with some samples. There seem to be a number of instances where CERTAIN videos are fuxxing up the header patching mechanism in SVCD2DVDMPG.

    Symptoms I've seen:

    - Jittering: Looks like the image shifts up by 1 or 2 pixels, then back down. Repeat every .5 to 1.5 seconds. Hurts to watch.

    - Skipping: Just what it sounds like. Video and/or audio.

    - Squishing: Looks good on some players, but on others the vertical size is "squished".

Hopefully he can fix it quickly. He already seems to have a mostly working fix for the arithmetic error in the P&S fix options, he works quick! Kudos to CB!

Having the same problem as these ppl was wondering if there was a fix yet, and or does this problem occur in the + version. Would like to buy + version ....only if it works though!

Hi people - i missed this thread!! Just seen it. Sorry.

There are many factors to a successful SVCD->DVDR->DVDPLAYER Experience:

    1) Source - garbage in=garbage out
    2) SVCD2DVDMPG settings - you need to know the right settings for your player & authoring software
    3) Authoring S/Ware - single VTS, multi VTS etc
    4) Repaching....
    5) DVD Player compatablilty - any special settings (like for Pioneers)

I can never say it will work for you or not. It works in most combinations of the above, but anyone of the above could make it fail. The observant will note that SVCD2DVDMPG is only a dependent in one of these factors....

Anyway, it is for this reason i have collated samples on my site. They are DVD-SVCD samples of the standard vcdimager/dvdrhelp SVCD samples (available from this site). Burn them off, on RW media ( ), & assess the results.

The sources are good, the settings are spot on so points 1,2,3,4 are dealt with. Its only a case as to whether your DVD player is up to the job.

    Regards
