I have been placing all my 8mm/VHS tapes onto my hard drive so that I can place them on DVDs. I am using Adaptec VideOh DVD! for my external capture card and Movie Mill to do the capture and place it on my hard drive. The problem is that when I pull up most of these authoring programs such as Adobe Premiere 6 or DVDit! and some of the others I cant retrieve/import my clips from the hard drive. I go to new project or import and bring up the hard drive and instead of listing the 21 clips I have on there it only lists 2 clips. Where are the rest??? If I pull my hard drive they are all there. The only ones that seem to let me pull them up are Windows Movie Maker and Sonic MyDVD. Why dont the rest or what am I doing wrong???

when you go to look for your clips, check what kind of file types it's browsing for.
are the two files it shows different than the other 21 files that are hidden? (ie avi vs. mpg?) or are they encoded differently?
if it's browsing for specific file types as a default, you should be able to tell it to show all files - usually a drop-down box in the file browser window.- housepig

Actually for an example DVDit just says "project files" in the drop down box. No other options. The clips are in MPEG format.
Isn't "Insatiable" the one with Marilyn Chambers in it?? -
yep, "Insatiable", Marilyn Chambers. truly a classic.
as for your file problem... the only thing I can think of is that DVDit might be really picky about what kinds of files it accepts. (I know ReelDVD is).
If that's the case, it might be that these other files are not quite in spec and DVDit won't recognize them. I would try re-converting one or two of the missing files with an encoder such as TMPGenc, making sure they are true dvd spec, and see if Sonic will accept the re-encoded files.
Or you can switch authoring programs - I'm partial to DVD Lab, in part because it doesn't hide what it's doing from me - if my file is not compliant, it will tell me, not just hide the file from me.- housepig

What is the output of your encoded video, (ie. .mpv,m2v,mpg)...
Premiere isn't a DVD authouring prog, so that's why it won't import what you want.
