  1. Not exactly shot in the arm with my MSI TV@anywhere card. That baby will be up on e-bay soon. It works fine but, I think I can do better.

DV converter is not realy system dependant?

It will capture, process and send the file via USB to my HD?

The file will be AVI... MPEG2 ?

Any good recommends for around $200? I had seen a Dazzle today at bestbuy. The info here says they stink.

  2. I stronly recommend the Canopus ADVC 50.

I have tried most capture solutions (pinnacle, wintv & usb) but none has done they job as stabile and perfect result as the canopus.

I also think many agree with me on this site.

    Possitiv +

It is not as expensive as the ADVC 100.

It can be monted in a docking bay infront of the system (easy cable connecting).

    It has video audio lock!

And is totally independent (it gets power only from the pc).

It send the finished processed signal through a firewire cable to a firewire card.

    It captures AVI (DV).

It does not have a analog ouput like the ADVC 100.

    No macrovision remover either.

    Good Luck!!! 8)

You may also want to look at the DAC-100. It is in your price range, and except for the audio lock, which I never had use for, is almost identical to the ADVC-100. I am holding out for the Canopus myself.
    Hello.

  5. You don't have use for the "Audio Lock". Why not? Seems like a good thing.

DAC-100 has gotten good reviews here. I'll have to look into it.

If not, the Canopus 100 seems to be the way to go.

The reason I have never needed an audio lock, is because I cannot ever recall one of my captures having a synch problem. It was only after I converted or burned do I recall having it appear. I am also holding out for the ADVC-100.

    hi Marco33..

I can ONLY speak for the ADVC-100 (cause I have it)

In short, there's no beating around the bush. Just get it man!!
    I don't know much about the DAC's version, and I don't thing that it's
the same device but in a different enclosure either. That's just puppy
crapp nonense. But, if you get the DAC and find you have to return it,
you'll be dissapointed for not gettingthe ADVC-100 in the first place.
Yes, I would skip the other version ie, 50, firewire 1394, etc.

Do youreself a favor, and just GET IT. Forget about the cost. I think that
you can shop around $270 now, though I paid $300, it was WORTH IT.

    If you TRUELY want:
    * NO Audio sych issues..
    * NO frame drops
    * NO Noise (crystal clear capture (dv transfers))
    * Excellent video reproduction quality (I just said that)
    * and, (after capturing) perfect video encoding (pending your encoding skills)

Then, just get the ADVC-100. It's an external box, and has a power on
sitch and all so man other gaget connects and things, and also has the
ability to retard MV (should you work w/ VHS sources)

Now, although I speak VERY HIGHLY for the ADVC-100, there is nothing
(IMO) that will ever beat a good Analog capture (IF the device is skillfully
used and have no issues) Remember, DV is compression.. and as such,
    is LOSSY.

you will unless your computer already has one.

Please note that you can use the 4 pin-6pin firewire w/ this device also, it does not have to be 6pin-6pin

    Marco33,
I just got the DAC100 for $186.00 delivered. I've been using it for a week now. Works flawless with Adobe Premiere 6.5. ZERO frames dropped, Perfect captures, no audio sync issues with my captures.. @ $100.00 less and it does what the Canopus does, how can you go wrong? And yes it does work with Ulead VS7, I just tried it....

Any IEEE 1394 card should work fine....

  13. Looks like I will need a capture software also. Hope Ulead works with the canopus.

  14. Most programs that can capture DV video work.

I have tried different programs from Ulead, pinnacle, adobe...

The once i preferr the most is Pinnacle studio 8 and DVIO wich is free and can be downloaded on the TOOLS page on this site.

    Good Luck!
