I was just looking at the Office Depot catalog I received in today's mail...and the only sales on DVD media they are showing are for "MEMOREX." I think Memorex media sucks, but that is just my two cents. The deal is on 5 pack Memorex media...and if you purchase "TWO" 5 packs...your "THIRD" 5 PACK IS FREE! Just figured i'd mention this for the ones who like Memorex or who want to get something else for free.
BTW, the deal is for BOTH Memorex DVD-R as & DVD+R's. l

I believe the ad said $14.77 for a 5 pack....it was definitely $14 and change.....when you take into account the free third pack....it brings the price from about $3 a disk...to about $2 per disk.
-
I think their other deal that they are still running is better. $32.00 and some change and you get 30 Verbatims. A little over a dollar a disk.
-
I wouldn't use Memorex media if they gave them to me for free.Any media that bears the Memorex label is garbage.
-
Make sure you get the memorex 4X +R not the 2.5x. Also anyone know what is the media ID on the 4X.

The -R are the ones that aren't always good, depending on the batch.
They are made by entirely different manufacturers.
Just check the reviews right here in the DVD Media section. -
aren't memorex media crap ? tryed one and was a coaster.. (the only one i made with my burner)
-
i use memorex dvd-r exclusively. i will use nothing else. i use them for weddings, birthdays and the concerts i sell . ive made and sold over a thousand and i have never had a return for incompatability! never! any coasters ive made were not a disk issue! i think they are the best and i use only there cds also and im on my 8th hundred pack and never a dud! never.
to say they are garbage is to be ignorant they are a stable good media from a brand name ive trusted since cassette tape -
Ugh, the first DVD-Rs I bought were memorex. I got 3 out of 10 to work. The other 7, coasters. I bought generice $0.72 media and it works much better! No memorex for me.

I fully agree with MovieGeek...the proof is in the pudding..or in this case...the numbers....if you like Memorex, then you should probably jump on that deal from Office Depot...but a simple search will show that the MAJORITY of people who use Memorex "DVD" disks...have encountered MANY problems with them.
They say that a first impression is the best, and when I first bought my Sony burner back in November...I purchased a 5 pack of Memorex disks...those were the ONLY disks purchased at that time. Anyway, when I was finally in the process of burning my first movie....the burn process aborted and gave me all types of errors. I was like SHIT!....maybe I bought a defective drive....I had no clue what was going on....so after researching many posts on this forum...
I came to find out it was the MEMOREX CRAP media...NOT my drive....that was a relief...but it was pretty damn frustrating...because when you just get into the entire process of backing up your movies and you read countless pages on top of countless pages....and do everything you are supposed to...and then you get an error and a coaster on your FIRST ATTEMPT...well....it wasn't a good feeling. I ran out after reading the posts here and purchased Verbatim DVD-R media...and BAMMMM!! never a single issue to date! ....This is just ONE case of the countless on here with the nightmares on MEMOREX media.
As for the poster who praises for Memorex "CD" media...well this post isn't talking about Memorex cd media....and I too have burned hundreds of Memorex media...most of which are made by CMC corp...and they have burned flawlessly....maybe they have made their disks better since November...but they've permanently lost me as a customer.....so I won't know whether they have or not. -
no no i totally understand people say bad stuff bout memorex but for me they are excellent and ill use no other! its weird when you look at the media comments on the left most people say memorex is fine actually but some people hate um and its strange how they can be so excellent for me and not others. i have a pioneer 104 and most commonly author with dvdit or scenarist and i will say again ive shipped over 1000 of there dvd-r and i have not one complaint of incompatability but maybe im just lucky.
i do alot of vhs to dvd and dv to dvd and i love um! i believe it is ignorant to say they are garbage as i think we should post what works or doesnt for our set-up and then let others decide. some people use the optodisks or other cheapys and to me they are crap but others love um so who am i to say
i just know memorex has been awesome for me and i continue to enjoy there cheap reliable media -

@rsuave, you rest your case? That memorex poll had a whopping "ONE" single vote...lmao.....read the posts on this site and you'll find out what the vast majority think about Memorex. If you like that and they work for you..then more power to you....keep usin' em.
